Officers from the CTSO (Career and Technical Student Organizations) clubs at SGCHS presented information about their clubs to 8th grade students in Career Awareness Classes today. The clubs represented were FFA (Future Farmers of America), FBLA (Future Business Leaders of America), FCCLA (Family, Career, and Community Leaders of America, and HOSA (Health Occupations Students of America).

SGCMS students have spent the week learning about the Constitution with Constitution Day approaching this Sunday, September 17th. Throughout the week our 8th grade students received a pocket Constitutions. Several of our 8th grade students went to court to see the role that our judicial system plays within our Constitution. This morning during announcements, Dr. Collins read for students information about Constitution Day, its history, and its continued impact on our society.

SGC Lady Hornets defeated Huntingdon in a 5-3 thriller for the last regular season game of the year. Finishing the regular season with a 14-3 record. Eliza Whittemore pitched the complete game allowing only 1 earned run and striking out 3. Kynleigh Reece hit the a two run homer over the left center field fence to break at 1-1 tie in the 3rd. The Lady Hornets next game will be in the district tournament coming up next Saturday in Milan.

Students from Mrs. Malone's Career Advising and Planning class had the opportunity to observe General Sessions Court in Humboldt, TN on Wednesday, September, 13th. Judge Bradley Owens presided over cases and spent time speaking with 8th graders about his job and other careers in this field.

Color guard is a great opportunity for students to be involved with the band and we would love to have a large color guard for parades this year! Color guard clinics will be held on September 25th and 26th with auditions happening on September 28th. Students will stay from 3-5 on all 3 days. The SGCMS fall candy fundraiser is now underway. Students brought home a permission form to sell on Friday. Students who return the form tomorrow will be given their first box. The Football Homecoming Dance will be held Saturday, September 9th at the MS Cafeteria. Parents must sign their child in at the door if a permission form hasn’t been submitted. Entry is $5. Food, Drinks, Glow Bracelets for sale. NO PHONES. Pick up will be at the gym parking lot, organized like car-rider lines. 5/6th Grade Dance: 4-6pm. 7/8th Grade Dance: 7/9pm.
