6th and 7th grade students in Career Exploration were visited by Fire Captain Justin Smith. Mr. Smith discussed his career path, life as a fireman, and fire safety tips. Mr. Smith has twins, Bailey and Blake, who are 7th graders at SGCMS.

If your child did not bring home a form for the the PTO Valentine's Day Cookie fundraiser, you can print off this form and send it with your child. Please note the deadline was extended until February 1st. There are also forms in the main office.
South Gibson County Middle School will not be accepting any outside deliveries on Valentine’s Day. The PTO is selling a Valentine’s cookie that will be done in-house to support the school PTO. If you are interested in purchasing a cookie information can be found on both the school and PTO Facebook page. The last day for the cookie sale is this Thursday.
Based on the availability of our judges, the Spelling Bee will be held on 2/6. It is scheduled to start at 9:30am.
We at SGCMS cannot allow this week to draw to a close without taking the opportunity to express our sincere appreciation to the GCSSD Board of Education for all that they do for our students, teachers, staff, and administration. Everyday, we are the beneficiaries of their continued efforts and support. We thank them for their continued service and for their clear vision for the future of our district.
Students who ride bus 49 late route will be arriving home later than usual today. They are currently still at the Middle School.

Please join us Monday January 29th at 6:00pm at SGCHS for a special Parent Education Night. There will be guest speakers from the Gibson County Prevention Coalition sharing information on the dangers of vaping. There will also be representatives from The University of Tennessee at Knoxville College of Nursing, A Step Ahead, UT Extension Gibson County, and Healthcare Access Services. This has been organized by GCSSD Coordinated School Health.
The 8th grade freshman orientation meeting at the high school is this Thursday night at 6:00 PM. There will be a basketball tournament in the high school gym so please park and enter at the front entrance of the school.
Yearbook sales will be ending tomorrow, January 25. The flier that was sent home at the beginning of the year said January 26, but we need to change because of our deadline. You can order online at www.yearbookforever.com
Only a limited number of extra yearbooks will be ordered. If you miss the deadline, contact Anndrea Dyer to be put on the waitlist. The cost of extra yearbooks are $75 and will be due at distribution in May.
Daddy-Daughter Banquet registration forms are being sent home tomorrow! Registration will be $20 if paid before 2/12/24. $25 afterwards. Checks can be made to SGCMS Band. Come out and dress up for an evening of quality time, refreshments, dancing, and photos!
The banquet will be held on 2/17/24. K-4 will be from 4:00-5:30PM and 5th-8th will be from 6:30-8:00PM. If a Dad has a student in Elementary and Middle School, they may choose to attend the same time slot.

Parents - this week starts our Blue Suede Invitational Tournament. We have a large stock of our large sleeve Blue Suede t-shirts. These are sold at the tournament for $25 but will be made available during lunch this week to any of our students that would like one for $10.
